The Marshall County Family Resource Network and Noble Energy organized the second annual Purse Project recently, assembling and distributing 80 bags filled with personal hygiene products and other items to local organizations helping women in need.

According to Noble Energy Stacey Brodak, Noble awarded 10 organizations with monetary donations to support their causes. She added 10 organizations in total will benefit from the project, receiving bags from distribution or a monetary donation.

Organizations receiving the purses include Wellspring Pregnancy Center, Blue and Gold Christian Center, the Department of Health and Human Resources, Reynolds Memorial Hospital Cancer Resource Center, the Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Group, the FRN Parents as Teachers Program, Feeding Body and Soul Community Kitchen and the Wheeling YWCA.

Amy Wagers, procurement agent for Noble, said the event is designed to connect the energy company with the community.

"It's important for Noble Energy to connect directly with the community and all the organizations doing good deeds locally," she said.

Stacey Brodak, senior adviser of government, community and media relations for Noble, said the Family Resource Network has an important role in connecting those who need help with those able to provide it.

"It's all about serving local need and the FRN helps us identify the best agencies that have those needs," Brodak said.

FRN Executive Director Stacie Dei said the event gives smaller organizations a chance in the spotlight.

"This gives smaller organizations a connection to see all the wonderful things happening here," Dei said. "This is one of my favorite projects due to that blend of local organizations with women and families in need."
